Chrome - first google browser

Last tuesday September 2, google launched ist first internet browser to match up with Microsoft's latest release of internet explorer. Rumors also has in chrome will be used with a Android (mobile device developed by google partners). And because Chrome is just beta, it falls short of Google's goal of outwitting the Latest release of Internet Explorer but it manage to perform better that Mozilla Firefox. It also came with major cosmetic difference with Mozilla and IE8, very convinient 'cause the tabs is located in the topmost bar. Maybe because developers focused on barebones of handling javascript which usually eats a lot of computer resources. Chrome has a lot of things to do like being customizable like Firefox and the speed like or better then IE8.

New Beginnings at Triple 8

Well I would keep up with my reputation as a slacker for posting late for the one of the most anticipated day within the year, August 8, 2008. This will be a so much memorable day for me, not because of 2008 Summer Olympics in China or Sharon Cuneta's Concert but because my boss decided that this day would be my first official day in work not as a trainee (do I really need some trainning?) but as a full pledge employee.

Now my days as a bum is doomed, didn't even last a year (*$%#@). After acquiring a bachelor's degree in computers science last March, I ended up as an assistant of the general manager of a construction / developer / real estate firm. Their office has just move from Makati to Cavite. Lucky me, I don’t have to commute very long distances for work. It's just a few miles away; I can even walk to get the office.

My bosses really don't know what to call my position but I feel that my real job description should be A.A.A., yes that's 3 'A's and that would stand for All-Around-Assistant. Basically my tasks for this month are all related to setting up the new office for operation. Like Designing I.D.'s for our employees, calling cards, updating the payroll and expenses statements etc.

So much for the first job and one hell of a week. Everything in the office is chaotic - thanks to their previous assistant whoever that is. Hope to make things in shape so that I could be relieved earlier so I could attend my gym sessions again (crap I think I gaining weight again).

Sure thing my triple 8 day is a very very very lucky day for an ex-bum (ME:-).

Old But its Good (Hope for the Flowers)

What I thought was a children's book that my sister bought is maybe one of the greatest books that I've read up to now. I've forgotten the saying "Don't judge the book by its Cover" when I saw this book and I thought it was one of those corny books that our teachers in preschool used to read to use. Like others, I also thought that this book is a children novel the text is handwritten and there are a lot of doodled drawings. Yellow and black are all the colors that you will see on the cover of Hope for the Flowers written and illustrated by Trina Paulus.

Hope for the Flowers by Trina Paulus CoverThe story started when stripe bursted from the egg and started eating up the leaves where he was born into. As he continue to eat he grew bigger and bigger. One day he stopped eating and was he bored of just eating and growing so climbed down the tree that he born into. He started exploring the world meeting other creatures. He was searching something else in life. Then he saw a group of crawlers crawling towards something. He followed the group and learned that they're aiming to the top of a column that was a pile of pushing and squirming caterpillars.

Not knowing what he might see at the top, still he joined the worms. He though he might find that something that he was looking for. As he climbed up, he learned that nobody in the pile really knew what's at the top and to get further you have to step on someone's face. This is where he met Yellow, the first caterpillar that he ever spoke with into the column. Striped tried to avoid to step to his new found friend but it was inevitable. And when he did, he really felt awful climbed down and apologized. They fell in love they decided to climb down and decided do something like crawl and nibble grass together. They happily lived together as a coupled as the days passes.

Still Stripe couldn't help to think what's at top of that pile he even visits the site regularly. He heard that there was a butterfly at the top for the folks that fell from the top. His curiosity grew and grew until he asked Yellow to give it again a try but she doesn't want to go back to the life again. Stripe left her and for his climb and made her heartsick. She wandered away from everything familiar and one saw a fellow caterpillar hanging upside down. She learned from the fellow that it was the way of becoming a butterfly. So she did what the other caterpillar did.

Hope for the Flowers Most famous line
my favorite line in this book

Stripe did great in his second climb 'cause he was so much focused and determined this time. He reached the top and knew from other caterpillars that there was nothing to see but luckily he saw a yellow butterfly that looked very familiar to him. He somehow knew it was Yellow and on his way down he tried to tell others what's really on the top to most didn't listen. Tired and sad, Stripe crawled off to the old place where Yellow and he had romped and rest for a while. When woke up a flying yellow creature was fanning him with wings of light. The creature guided him to the cocoons and somehow he knew what to do next. Stripe became a butterfly and flew happily ever after with Yellow.

According to HFTF site, the book's inspiration was while the author was sharing comfort with a friend who just lost someone close. Ms. Paulus also believed that a lowly creeping worn can turn into a butterfly is hard to believe but we've actually seen how it's changed so we can also hope for internal transformation. She also believed that "Life is changed, not taken away".

Yellow and Stripe has bee creeping the earth and giving hope almost four decades now. According to Wiki, "Hope for the Flowers is classified as a children's novel when it was published in 1973 by Paulist Press. Ironic 'cause in the cover of the book is it clearly printed "a tale partly about life partly about revolution and lots about hope for adults and others. Kids can read but the lesson that they might only get is caterpillars do become butterflies. It maybe old but it's a good story about love, hope, patience, real revolution, and all about life. Do read "Hope for the Flowers", it might touch your lives

Just Missed Pacquiao vs. Diaz Lethal Combination

While Filipinos all over the world were celebrating the recent victory of Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, I was in the 2nd season of my series marathon watching of Ugly Betty(bumpotato-ites hobby). The next day I was awaken by the sound of T.V. showing "Unang Hirit" of GMA-7 with their early morning news segmet "Unang Balita". I've observed that 70% of it was anything about or connected to the "Manny Pacquiao vs. David Diaz Lethal Combination" Philippine local News never failed to sensationalized times like this.

It is not advisable to watch the match in the Philippines if you don't have a cable tv subscription because you will be just annoyed to different kinds of spoillers around like a news update or even someone you know will call or send you a message, or some crazy bastard in the neighborhood will shout that somebody already won while round 2 has just began. At the end of each round there will be a commerial break, adds about beer, sports products, pacquiao commercials etc. So when the match is really over even with a decision the free tv air is always late.

When Emmanuel was just starting to be famous in the world of boxing his fights are just shown mostly RPN-9 a not so famous channel but always consistent on brodcasting sports event. And when he starts making his name a into a legend the Philippine giant networks were like always in a boxing match on which will get the exclusive privilege to air the match.

I haven't seen the match, just want to see the round in which Pacman really nailed Diaz, so a day after I though someone will be kind enough to post it on youtube. I was right but unluckily in was removed few hours after it was uploaded. HBO really did a good job cleaning the web for it making it mearly impossible to watch illegally.

Filipino's always treat Pacquiao Match day as a national holiday. Even criminal takes a dayoff in streets when their national fist(Pambansang Kamao) is about to break someones face on international tv. PNP even repoted zero crime rate last Sunday June, 29 2008, and the apparent reason according to the police is the boxing event and rainy weather.

They always treat this 29-year old boxer a if he was a national hero. Let's thank him for making Philippines be recognized once again. He can only give us a day of peace, a day of rejoicing, a day of pride or even a day of hope, but if we work really hard like Pacquiao to win are own battles in life, we may not need an icon like him just to say that you are proud be a "Filipino". Oh Shit it sounded melodramatic
