Just Missed Pacquiao vs. Diaz Lethal Combination

While Filipinos all over the world were celebrating the recent victory of Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, I was in the 2nd season of my series marathon watching of Ugly Betty(bumpotato-ites hobby). The next day I was awaken by the sound of T.V. showing "Unang Hirit" of GMA-7 with their early morning news segmet "Unang Balita". I've observed that 70% of it was anything about or connected to the "Manny Pacquiao vs. David Diaz Lethal Combination" Philippine local News never failed to sensationalized times like this.

It is not advisable to watch the match in the Philippines if you don't have a cable tv subscription because you will be just annoyed to different kinds of spoillers around like a news update or even someone you know will call or send you a message, or some crazy bastard in the neighborhood will shout that somebody already won while round 2 has just began. At the end of each round there will be a commerial break, adds about beer, sports products, pacquiao commercials etc. So when the match is really over even with a decision the free tv air is always late.

When Emmanuel was just starting to be famous in the world of boxing his fights are just shown mostly RPN-9 a not so famous channel but always consistent on brodcasting sports event. And when he starts making his name a into a legend the Philippine giant networks were like always in a boxing match on which will get the exclusive privilege to air the match.

I haven't seen the match, just want to see the round in which Pacman really nailed Diaz, so a day after I though someone will be kind enough to post it on youtube. I was right but unluckily in was removed few hours after it was uploaded. HBO really did a good job cleaning the web for it making it mearly impossible to watch illegally.

Filipino's always treat Pacquiao Match day as a national holiday. Even criminal takes a dayoff in streets when their national fist(Pambansang Kamao) is about to break someones face on international tv. PNP even repoted zero crime rate last Sunday June, 29 2008, and the apparent reason according to the police is the boxing event and rainy weather.

They always treat this 29-year old boxer a if he was a national hero. Let's thank him for making Philippines be recognized once again. He can only give us a day of peace, a day of rejoicing, a day of pride or even a day of hope, but if we work really hard like Pacquiao to win are own battles in life, we may not need an icon like him just to say that you are proud be a "Filipino". Oh Shit it sounded melodramatic
